Since 2002, Terrance Stanfield has been a steady and essential part of the Dickerson & Bowen (D&B) team. After getting his start in the asphalt industry, Terrance came to the Brookhaven Wash Plant when his uncle, who was working here at the time, encouraged him to join. He took that advice and never looked back.
Over the years, Terrance has become someone the entire operation depends on. As a crusher operator, he fires up the equipment each morning and keeps it running no matter what challenges arise. He runs the loader, crushes gravel, and loads trucks as they roll into the plant, all while ensuring the crusher is maintained and operating safely. He is constantly moving, constantly working, and constantly finding ways to keep production on track. As he jokingly puts it, “I’m always on the go. I don’t like to sit still.”
Foreman Jeremy Smith shared, “It’s hard to put into words what Terrance has meant to our team here at D&B, but we’re all thankful he’s here with us. He plays a huge role in what we do here every day. Even though he makes his job look easy, it can be very tedious at times. He’s great, never complains, and always has a great attitude. I can go on and on about him. He means a lot to me.”
Wash Plants Superintendent Chuck Plaisance echoed that sentiment, saying, “I can’t say enough good things about Terrance. He is an absolute team player and is always at work, keeping the crusher running and loading all the trucks. He never misses a day and is always willing to help out whenever he is needed.”
Teammates Walter Graham and Michael Smith nominated Terrance, describing him as very easy-going but a very hard worker and someone willing to lend a hand whenever needed.
Terrance says his favorite part of the job is loading the trucks and crushing gravel, seeing how it all comes together. More than anything, he values his team. “My favorite thing is being around the people here. They’re good people. Everybody comes together and helps day in and day out.” That team-first mindset reflects who he is. He will do anything for his team.
He has also seen tremendous change since 2002. The plant has come a long way, and safety improvements have been a major part of that progress. From painted handrails to stronger overall safety standards, Terrance has witnessed firsthand how the operation has grown and improved over time.
Terrance’s gratitude, combined with his relentless work ethic and commitment to his team, is what makes him such an important part of D&B. Terrance, we thank you for leading by example, living out our core values, and serving as a true blueprint for excellence across the team and industry!
