Trucker Spotlight: Terry Cooper

This month, we’re proud to recognize Terry “Coop” Cooper in our Trucker Appreciation Spotlight. With decades of experience behind the wheel, a deep-rooted family connection to Dickerson & Bowen, and a commitment to safety every day, Terry exemplifies what it means to be part of the D&B team. 

Terry’s journey with Dickerson & Bowen began when he was just 18 years old. Following in the footsteps of his father, who dedicated 34 years to the company, Terry joined the team and quickly became part of the D&B family tradition. Over the years, he has worked in nearly every area of the company, beginning on a road crew before eventually finding his place behind the wheel. 

“I love it here,” Terry shared. “My dad got me on here when I was 18. I’ve done just about everything you can do at D&B, from being on a road crew to being a truck driver.” With 15 years of professional truck driving experience and a CDL he’s held since 1996, Terry has built a career around dedication, reliability, and hard work. When asked what he enjoys most about his job, his answer was simple but meaningful. 

“Just getting in the truck, doing my job, and being able to go home safely every day.” 

His passion for the work is evident, and his sense of humor comes through as well. “I’ve been doing it so long I can do it with my eyes closed,” he joked. 

For Terry, some of his favorite memories at D&B go back long before he officially became an employee. Growing up around the company, he spent time with his father at the plants and created memories that still stick with him today. “Watching my dad walk around and helping him around the plants, then going and playing on the rock piles when I was a kid. I’ve got a lot of memories here.” 

Trucking Manager Donnie Smith has known Terry for many years and has watched his career unfold firsthand. “He worked here for a while, and his dad worked here before him. I’ve worked with him for a really long time,” Donnie said. 

From childhood memories around the plants to a career spent helping keep operations moving, Terry’s story is a testament to loyalty, hard work, and pride in a job well done. We are grateful for his years of service and dedication to safety and are proud to recognize Terry “Coop” Cooper in this month’s Trucker Appreciation Spotlight.
