Kody Covington is a strong example of someone who continues to make an impact in the way he shows up each day. In just three and a half years with Dickerson & Bowen, a Granite Company (D&B), he has earned a reputation as someone teammates can count on, whether he’s operating a plant, helping with maintenance, or stepping in wherever support is needed.
Recently promoted from Plant Operator to Leadman at the McComb Asphalt Plant, Kody has earned respect across the company by showing up with pride in his work and a positive presence that lifts the team around him. Across our asphalt plants segment, he’s known for doing whatever it takes to help the team succeed.
“Everybody on the team knows and loves Kody,” said Ryan Kennedy, Asphalt Plants Manager. “His goofy antics make long days fly by and challenging jobs seem like a breeze. He holds himself to high standards, and those who know him know that he’s going to be on time and at work every single day, with no exceptions.”
Kody’s willingness to step in wherever needed has made him a valuable resource across multiple operations. Whether supporting annual plant maintenance efforts or stepping in at other locations, he brings both knowledge and commitment to every task.
“Even with three years of experience, Kody’s already become one of our most knowledgeable plant guys,” said Jake Dykes, McComb Plant Foreman. “He helps wherever he’s needed, whether that’s at McComb, Jackson, Brookhaven, or while doing maintenance work at other plants. He brings a great attitude. We know it’s going to be a good day whenever Kody is on the job site.”
In addition to his work ethic, Kody demonstrates our core value of integrity through his commitment to doing the right thing. Teammates consistently point to his focus on safe work practices, following proper procedures, and looking out for those around him.
“When we’re working on things at the plant, Kody is always going to be the first one to speak up about making sure the proper processes are followed,” said Jamie Smith, Maintenance Superintendent. “I would say one of the core values Kody exudes is integrity. He is always going to do the right thing no matter the situation.”
As he steps into his new role as Leadman, Kody carries forward the same pride and energy that have made him such a valued part of the D&B team. Congratulations to Kody on his promotion to Leadman and on being recognized as a Blueprint for Excellence spotlight.
